When you own a health and wellness business, one in which you are proactively helping others to accomplish their goals to live a healthier lifestyle, it's easy to think you can do it all yourself. We all fall into the "it can get done faster if I do it myself" rut, and inevitably, we end up burned out and needing a health coach of our own.
But here's why hiring someone to help you with your public relations efforts can have a huge impact on the success of your business:
A public relations professional can help you streamline your grand ideas and turn them into reality, but in a thoughtful and strategic way.
If it's media coverage you want, a PR professional can help you achieve it, by creating a media relations plan that will be to your benefit. This is not to imply that media coverage is a given, but with the right plan in place, it sure will help.
A public relations professional often can provide help in other areas, as well, which leaves you more time to focus on your goal: your business. Newsletters, website content, social media marketing and community outreach may all be part of the PR role. The more a PR pro can get to know about you and your business, the better and more effective the communication will be with the community at large.
You have been trained to become the best at what you do. You want someone with the right skills in place who can capitalize on your strengths and promote you and your services to the public.
Don't be afraid to put yourself out there. You started your business because you are passionate about what you do. Let the world know about it and get to know you as the expert!
Today is the first day of school for my two boys, who are in 1st grade and 3rd grade. The first grader was the first in line at the bus stop, excitedly awaiting his first full day at school, his first recess and first school lunch.
The third grader was a little less excited, knowing that homework would be looming this year and a bit nervous at what that would entail.
The summer was a good one, complete with a trip to the beach, summer camp, swimming, trips to the park, a visit to the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, Kennywood Park, and local field trips to places we had never been before.
I also did something I haven't done in a long time. I read. A lot. I read more books during the past three months than I have read in my eight years as a mother. A friend piqued my interest in the Law of Attraction, and I took so much interest in this concept that I began a search of all the books I could find on this topic.
One author who I recently discovered and have become a huge fan is Gabrielle Bernstein, New York Times best-selling author of The Universe Has Your Back. In the book, Bernstein teaches readers how to transform fear into faith and live a life filled with all that matters most: happiness, security, and clear direction. She illustrates various meditations to help us release the blocks that may be holding us back from truly living the life that we desire and teaches us key thoughts to get us through times of stress and anxiety. Perhaps even more importantly, she writes the book in simple terms that are easy to understand.
In doing more research, I found out that Bernstein has written several more books, including May Cause Miracles andMiracles Now. Each is filled with daily reminders and affirmations of how we can choose to seek love, eliminate fear, combat judgmental thoughts and actions and live peacefully.
I'm currently reading E-Squared by Pam Grout. This book contains nine do-it-yourself experiments that prove your thoughts really do create your reality. It's an interesting read, as each chapter consists of a different experiment, complete with a "Lab Report," that illustrates how to control our thoughts so that we can live the life we want.
I"m eager to continue this mindfulness journey on seeking love and eliminating fear, and as I do, I'm so interested to hear if you've read any books like these? If so, which ones?
